Carbide tipped tool bits is brazing a carbide insert with pure copper or other solder brazing on the ordinary structural steel or cast iron shank.Mainly used for roughing and semi-finishing of cast iron, non-ferrous metals and non-metallic materials. Low or high speed small feed machining.

Advantages: Carbide tipped tool bits’s structure is simple, compact; good rigidity, vibration resistance; manufacturing, easy sharpening; flexible, because of the high hardness of carbide, can achieve most of the materials being processed requirements, and relative to other materials, the cost is correspondingly very low, so it is widely used. Disadvantages: the insert is welded at high temperature, the strength and hardness are reduced, and the Cutting performance decreases; the insert material generates internal stress, and is prone to cracks and other defects; the shank can not be reused, which is a waste of raw materials; it is not applicable to automatic lathes and CNC lathes because of the long time of tool change and tool setting.

Commonly used in turning workpiece outer circle, end face straight, 90 ° and 45 ° elbow turning tool, through hole boring tool, not through hole boring tool, cut off the tool and so on.

In order to make the insert welded firmly, small amount of sharpening, it is necessary to process the groove on the toolpost, the common form of knife groove has the following types.

(1) open groove: simple shape, easy to process, but the welding area is small, suitable for C-type inserts.

(2) Semi-closed groove: can only be processed with a milling cutter, manufacturing is more difficult, but the welded blade is solid, applicable to A, B-type inserts.

(3)Closed groove: clamping inserts firmly, reliable welding, used for threading tools, applicable to E-type inserts.

(4) Notched groove:Used for cutter and groove cutter with small bottom area, so as to increase the welding area and improve the bonding strength, applicable to D-type inserts.
